Hygienist Milana Vilotijevic recalls her first trip to the dentist as the result of an unfortunate accident when she was growing up in Brooklyn: “I fell on my two front teeth when I was a little kid, and they both fell out,” she says. “I don’t remember a whole lot, but I do remember how caring my dentist was. And I remember not having teeth for a while!”
Today, she’s got all her teeth, and she wants to help you keep yours, too. “I want my patients to know that I really do care about their oral health,” she says. “I’m understanding, I never judge, and I’m a very OCD person, so your mouth is going to be in spotless condition before you leave.”
But she also knows your semiannual cleaning is just half the battle. “Education is one of the most important things for me,” she says, “because dental hygiene is not just about getting a cleaning and then you’re good to go. The goal is to maintain your oral health, and a big part of that comes from us making recommendations for your specific needs and teaching you how to take care of your oral health at home.”
