Dr. Caitlin Miller used to be all about her dentist's goodie bag. "I loved going as a kid," she says, "because I'd get these really cool plastic sunglasses. I thought that was so fun!"
It didn't hurt that she grew up seeing a variety of friendly, compassionate dentists, including a close family friend. "All the dentists I saw were really wonderful people," she says, "so fun and friendly and at ease with everyone, and I try to be the same. I know you're coming in for your dental appointment, but I want to get to know you as a person."
That human connection is a crucial part of why Dr. Miller loves her job. "Dentistry is unique in that we get to see our patients twice a year. That allows us to really build a foundation with people, and that's how you build trust. In the years I've been practicing, I've seen a lot of my patients get married and have babies, and those things are really nice to be a part of."
