No matter how busy she may be, Dr. Destiny Bean says, “I always try to get to know my patients. I call it a personality exchange.” Whether that means cracking a joke, telling stories, or just inviting you to share a little about yourself, she says, “I like to start with a conversation. I’m the type of dentist who is all about making you feel comfortable with the process.”

In a way, she’s been training for a career in medicine since she was a kid. “My mom tells me that I've wanted to be a doctor since I was 4,” she says, but Dr. Bean’s interests couldn’t be contained to just one field. She’s also an avid painter, roller skater, and since starting her dentistry practice in her native Texas, she moved to New York to study another passion: professional baking. “I actually came here solely to go to pastry school,” she says. “but after I graduated I ended up really liking it here, so I stayed.”

Dr. Bean knows she’s not like most dentists, and she’s proud of it. “I’m going to treat you exactly as I would want to be treated if I were in the chair,” she says. “I love my job, and I love getting to make a difference in the dental experience. I’m grateful that’s exactly what I get to do here at Tend.”
