Most people either loved going to the dentist as a kid—or absolutely hated it. Where did you fall? How come?

I was fine going to the dentist, but whenever I had to get a shot of any kind I would sweat bullets. After the numbing set in I would be a cool cucumber. Also, when I had braces I would sit for however long the appointment took even when my mouth became dry as a desert.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is giving someone the look and smile they never knew they could have. Once they see how good their teeth can look that just brightens up their mood and whole personality.

What famous person (alive or dead) is your dream dental patient? Why?

My dream dental patient would be Muhammad Ali. His personality was bigger than anyone's and his sense of humor was like no other. I'm sure he would've needed a few mouthguards over his boxing career.

How do you recharge after a long week? What’s your go-to activity for hitting the restart button?

After a long week, I enjoy a good workout along with being outside or around good company. A quick way to recharge is to do a quick 10 to 15 minute HIIT exercise to really get the blood flowing and sweat out the bad stuff.

What is the absolute coolest thing about the human mouth?

The coolest thing about the human mouth: teeth develop from cells more similar to skin than bone!

What’s something that really, really, really makes you smile? Like, really?

Something that really makes me smile is when I see my dog, Winston, who's a goldendoodle, running and having fun with his buddies. It's just the best.
