Most people either loved going to the dentist as a kid—or absolutely hated it. Where did you fall? How come?

I loved going to the dentist, specifically for “Mr. Nose” and how it always smelled like strawberries. My orthodontist was also very kind to his staff and took them on yearly out of the country trips.

What (or who) inspired you to get into dentistry? How so?

I was always interested in teeth. So much that I kept every tooth I had, even begged for the ones that got extracted, which was always a secret ;)

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Educating a member about their oral health, and when I see that lightbulb go off in their head that they finally understand the “nifty-gritty,” it makes it all worth it.

What famous person (alive or dead) is your dream dental patient? Why?

JLo… that one in a million smile

What’s your dream toothpaste flavor?

White chocolate strawberry or Air Heads

What’s something your patients might be surprised to learn about you?

To totally counteract my profession, I used to decorate cakes for a couple of years to help with school!

How do you recharge after a long week? What’s your go-to activity for hitting the restart button?

I go overboard with treating myself, I like 3 course meals, drinks on deck, and pampering myself like I didn’t just do it the weekend before! Lol

What dental stereotype are you most passionate about changing?

The perfect smile… the veneer trend everyone is hitched to is not as great as media makes it.

What is the absolute coolest thing about the human mouth?

Coolest or the craziest? There's the fact that genetics plays a huge role in oral health. Some members can brush 3x a day, floss, rinse and still have issues. Some members get away with nothing compared to following their duties and they have 0 cavities and a perfect smile. “Good and bad” genes are very active in the mouth. Ask your parents their history and see how yours relates!

In another life, if you weren’t working in dentistry, what would you be doing?

Building mansions for rescues, and people have to pay to be able to play with the animals…. I have it all planned out.

When I’m in the patient chair, I’m probably grooving to {blank} in my headphones.

I’m very diverse in my music. Etta James, to K. Camp to Dolly Parton

What’s something that really, really, really makes you smile? Like, really?

A funny person, because laughing is my favorite thing to do and laughing without a smile is hard!
