Hygienist Katherine Rodriguez went to hygiene school so you don’t have to. “I don’t expect most people to know everything about oral hygiene,” she says. “I’m from Uruguay, and dentistry isn’t really a thing there. Most of what I know I didn’t learn until I went to hygiene school, so how could I expect you to know? I’m here to help pass along what I’ve acquired throughout my career.”

Katherine worked as a dental assistant for 8 years before becoming a hygienist, and it was that education aspect that attracted her most. “I wanted to be even more helpful,” she says. “And dental hygiene was perfect because we’re preventative specialists. We’re here to teach you how to take care of your teeth at home so we can stop issues before they even happen.”

And for Katherine, dentistry is all about the long haul: “Results take time, it doesn’t happen right away,” she says. “That’s why I always try to get to know my patients, to build a relationship. That way, at each appointment, we can work together toward getting you closer to good oral health.”
