Hygienist Madelyn Rosario grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, not far from the Tend studio where she now works. “My mom still lives here,” she says, “so it’s still home.”

She’s wanted to work in dentistry since she was a child. “My family has a video of me from when I was five years old saying I wanted to be a dentist. Dentistry has been a passion for a long time! I always had such a huge smile as a kid, and my family was always talking about it. Those experiences may have fueled my desire to pursue a career in dentistry. That big smile also became one of my greatest attributes, since I believe smiling is a universal language.”

Madelyn worked as a dental assistant for six years, gaining valuable experience and knowledge in the field. Driven to continue a career in oral health, she became a hygienist in 2013. She prioritizes a gentle, informative approach. “I want to see where you’re coming from," she says, "what your fears and past experiences are. If you’re afraid or anxious, even just getting a cleaning can be intimidating. I want you to feel at ease.”
