Most people either loved going to the dentist as a kid—or absolutely hated it. Where did you fall? How come?

I hated going to the dentist when I was a kid. I was so apprehensive. But they never actually did any dental work on me, so I lost two teeth and had many restorations done as a result of it.

What (or who) inspired you to get into dentistry? How so?

My sister is a dentist and she inspired me to follow her footsteps. I wanted to be a dentist, but that never came true. Life have a different idea and I became a hygienist instead. Now, I actually love what I am doing and I am glad I am not a dentist.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Help and educate people to have a better and healthier mouth.

What famous person (alive or dead) is your dream dental patient? Why?

Dalai Lama. Curiosity because he mediates and has healing power.

What’s your dream toothpaste flavor?

Ahhh….I actually have not thought about this, but it would be Pina Colada with coconut cream.

What’s something your patients might be surprised to learn about you?

I had more than 100 plants at one time.

How do you recharge after a long week? What’s your go-to activity for hitting the restart button?

I love hiking, paddling and spending time in nature.

What dental stereotype are you most passionate about changing?

Teeth cleaning is not a basic need every 6 months.

In another life, if you weren’t working in dentistry, what would you be doing?

I would be a ranger

When I’m in the patient chair, I’m probably grooving to {blank} in my headphones.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

What’s something that really, really, really makes you smile? Like, really?

It warms my heart and puts a smile on my face to come home to a home-cooked meal by my son.
