Dr. Tung Nguyen combines technical precision with a calm, patient-centered approach that helps patients feel confident in their care. He earned his DDS from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, followed by advanced training at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he refined his skills in comprehensive and restorative care. At Tend, Dr. Nguyen is focused on thoughtful, individualized treatment and clear communication—so you always know what’s happening and why. It’s located just steps away from the 7 train and a few blocks from the G at 21st Street. Street parking is also available. Really positive experience. Beautiful aesthetically. Every detail was thought through. Got an appointment next day. Zero wait time. The staff and drs were thorough and very kind and put me at ease even though I was very nervous! They were transparent about billing, my insurance covered the visit, no weird bills later on. This was my first time at Tend, and I loved it! The entire process to book an appointment was super easy and seamless. They took my insurance and the entire visit was covered. The office was very clean, modern and nice! Said they’ve only been open in that location about 6 months. My dental hygienist Emily was very sweet and walked me through everything she was doing. I was very comfortable and even watched tv during my cleaning. I also suffer from TMJ and they offer botox to help with pain if needed! I am actually looking forward to my follow up

The staff here at Navy Yard are the best!!! Dr. Turkson, Dr. Showkatian and Roxy made me feel so comfortable once again. Im ine to be petrified of the dentist the sounds make me out of control. I use to pass out after leaving the any dental office. Since I've been coming to Tend...hasn't happened any more. There expertise in what they do made my nervousness go away. They ease my nervousness with their kind approach and gentle care. Explanations of aftercare is given as well. When you walk in door you're greeted with kindness. Thanks and ❤️ to the Navy Team!!!
My first time at Tend and I’m glad I followed through with my appointment. Their office is really nice and clean and everyone was really friendly. My hygienist and Dentist were Shacore and Dr. Abernathy and they were both amazing. Shacore made me laugh the entire time and tried her best to make me feel comfortable. I would definitely go back.
Best dentist ever. I have a rare condition that makes it hard for me to numb with local anesthetic. Dr. Silvia took her personal time to research my condition and adjust her technique to offer the best pain relief possible. This is the most caring thing a doctor has ever done for me.
Felt so at ease and comfortable at this location. Everyone treated me incredibly well and with patience and ensured I didn’t feel any pain and was watching my favorite show on Netflix!
From The warm and friendly greeting at the door, to the Cleanliness of the facility, to the professionalism and warmth of the staff… Could not ask for more! Everything was explained in detail, from insurance to Out-of-pocket costs, everything was open and honest. I felt my service was extremely detailed and well executed.
Can I say, I’ve been to a bunch of dental offices and the Tend location on Capitol Hill is the best place. I’m sure the other tend offices are amazing as well but this was the only location I’ve been too and the front desk, hygienists and dentists are so kind and considerate. They always ask if I feel any pain or ask if I’d like to turn the channel to any particular show I’d like to watch while I get my cleaning. The tools they use are top of line and I have never had any issues with them working with my health insurance. I have Delta Dental and I’ve never needed to do any extra work to resolve any coding issues like I had to do in Hawaii and some offices in the DMV. When coming to see my family after the holidays I literally scheduled an appointment to see them. I now only trust them to work on my teeth. I had prior issues in the past with dental offices not related to Tend on Maple Lawn where I found that they were doing unnecessary fillings and went to this office the first time and they showed me my X-ray and said I didn’t need the fillings.

The individual took the time to thoroughly explain every component, ensuring that I felt informed and engaged throughout our interaction. The overall atmosphere was calm and inviting, creating a relaxing environment that allowed me to fully enjoy the experience.
I’ve visited several Tend dental offices in both NYC and Boston, but the Kendall Square location is hands down one of my favorites. I always get a bit anxious about dental visits, but the moment I walked in, the team made me feel so welcome! Kimberly Nguyen, the hygienist who took care of me, was incredibly thorough in explaining what needed to be done, yet still so kind and patient. She really helped ease my nerves. Highly recommend this location. 10/10!

[My hygienist] really cared about my teeth and took the extra mile to properly clean it, take pictures, explain to them, answer my questions, and give me suggestions. I would usually be at the dentist for about 20-40 minutes at most, but I spent over an hour with her, and honestly, I think she did a 5-star job.
Best dentist I have ever been to. I had a tooth break on a Saturday. Tend took me the same day, when my dentists office was closed until Monday. I can say confidently it was the greatest experience I have had. Not only was the office beautiful, with very modern technology, but the staff was incredibly gentle, kind, and generous. I suffer from extreme dental anxiety, and after this experience I will be switching to this office for my primary care.
I give my experience with tend a 10 out of 10. From walking into a beautiful inviting space and getting useful welcome gift, to staff and practitioners using your preferred name, it immediately sets you at ease. I especially loved walking into the hygienist suite where the TV monitor showed my message “Hello Manna, we’ve prepared this suite just for you.“ Each person I encountered was kind and attentive to comfort needs. They thoroughly explained each step of the process for examining my teeth then the doctor’s consultation followed by the cleaning. I am so glad that my insurance plan is in network with Tend because there isn’t another place. I’d trust with my dental health.
I love love loveddddd my experience! This was my first time and the place was gorgeous, clean. I was welcomed upon entry and helped right away. Everything felt personalized. I enjoyed being a part of the whole visit, I saw my X-rays right on the screen in front of me as they were being taken, I got to watch a show which I chose before hand while I had my cleaning done. The dentist explained every part of the exam and what she was doing, what she found. Best dental experience ever!
I have been going to Tend Navy Yard since 2021. They set me up with an incredible treatment plan that has allowed me to progress through all the procedures that I needed. My latest treatment earlier this year with Dr. Cevallos and Alexa was perfect. The care and attention to detail made all the difference. Your first visit will include a comprehensive exam, a detailed review of your oral health, and time to talk through any concerns or goals you have. We’ll make sure you feel informed, comfortable, and fully supported from the moment you walk in.
We recommend coming in for a cleaning and checkup every six months, which is the standard for most patients. These regular visits help us catch small issues—like early signs of decay or gum disease—before they become more serious or expensive to treat.
However, some patients may need to come in more frequently, especially if they have a history of gum disease, wear orthodontic appliances like aligners, or are more prone to plaque buildup. Your dentist will work with you to create a personalized care plan based on your needs, so you’re always getting the right level of care at the right time.

Your first visit is designed to be both thorough and welcoming. Here’s what it includes:
- A complete dental exam to assess your teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral health
- Digital x-rays for a detailed look below the surface (with significantly lower radiation than traditional x-rays)
- A gentle, professional cleaning tailored to your needs
- A one-on-one conversation with your dentist, who will walk you through any findings, answer your questions, and create a treatment plan if needed
We’ll also review your dental history, talk about your goals (whether it’s improving your oral health or brightening your smile), and give you time to ask questions—without feeling rushed.
The environment is designed to feel calm and spa-like, so you can relax and actually enjoy taking care of your smile.
Call us at 212-257-3455. Just make sure to do so more than 48 hours before your appointment time. If you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours in advance, we’ll have to charge you a $50 fee. If you don’t make it at all, we’ll have to charge you a $100 fee. This is because we reserved that time specifically for you, and our appointments are in high demand.
