This was my second visit to the Tend in Navy Yard, and it’s now my second time having a very pleasant experience. The entire staff, from the front desk to the doctor, are very nice and communicative about what’s going on at any given time. I would recommend filling out your check-in information before arriving so all you have to do is give your name. Plus, it’s kind of nice being able to watch TV while they work on you.

I scheduled a Saturday emergency visit for tooth pain, and it went very well. From the moment I walked into Tend Dentistry, I felt at home. The receptionist was warm and engaging and helped me with any questions. The support staff were friendly and extremely professional. Dr. Joyce reviewed the X-rays and photos with me and explained the diagnosis and treatment in detail.

As always, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Dr. Turkson is always patient, kind, and efficient, and the staff are so pleasant. I used to hate going to the dentist, but not anymore.

The dental hygienist I saw was excellent. He was the best one I’ve seen yet! I didn’t get his name, but he was patient, kind, and had the best bedside manner. I am 30 weeks pregnant, and he took everything very seriously and was cautious. He helped me feel more comfortable and took his time.

Visiting us for a dental cleaning and comprehensive checkup every six months is the standard for most patients. These regular appointments give us the chance to catch small issues like early signs of decay or gum disease before they become more serious or expensive to treat.
Some patients may need to come in more frequently, especially if they have a history of gum disease, wear orthodontic appliances like aligners, or are more prone to plaque buildup. Your dentist will provide you with a personalized care plan based on your needs, so you’re always getting the right level of care at the right time.
Even if everything looks great, cleanings help remove plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing alone can't remove, and they’re key to keeping your smile feeling fresh and looking its best.
Your first visit at Tend Dental Navy Yard is designed to be both thorough and welcoming. Here’s what it includes:
A complete dental exam to assess your teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral health
Digital X-rays provide a close-up view beneath the surface while exposing you to less radiation than traditional X-rays
A dental cleaning that is gentle and tailored to your oral health needs
A private, one-on-one discussion with your dentist, who will walk you through any findings, answer your questions, and create a treatment plan if needed
We’ll also review your dental history, talk about your goals (whether it’s improving your oral health or brightening your smile), and give you plenty of time to ask any questions that you might have.
The environment is designed to feel calm and soothing, so you can relax and actually enjoy taking care of your smile.
If your appointment time no longer works for you, please call us at (202) 455-4778. Just make sure to do so more than 48 hours before your scheduled time. We reserve that time specifically for you, and our appointments are in high demand, so we appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule.
You can also log into your profile on the Tend Dental app to make any changes needed, including cancelling and rescheduling.

Flossing once a day is one of the simplest ways to protect your smile, but there’s a little more to it than just going through the motions. Here’s what dentists recommend, why it works, and how to make it part of your routine.
Choosing a dentist for your family is a decision that shapes how your kids will feel about dental visits well into adulthood, and how easy it is to maintain your family's oral health over time. So instead of asking, “Which dentist is closest?” a better question might be: Which one actually fits how we live?
What if feeling exhausted wasn’t just “part of life”? For many people, treating sleep apnea is a turning point. one that can lead to more consistent energy, clearer thinking, and a renewed sense of feeling like themselves again.
