Endodontics goes beyond root canal therapy. We provide a variety of advanced treatments focused on relieving tooth pain, treating infection, and protecting your natural teeth. Our calm, comfort-first approach to endodontic care allows you to feel at ease, even during complex treatment.
Care that reaches to the source of your discomfort
When tooth pain strikes, it can be a sign of infection, inflammation, or nerve damage deep within the tooth. Endodontic care focuses on diagnosing and treating these problems, relieving pain, addressing infection, and preserving your natural tooth whenever possible.
Our general dentists provide a range of endodontic services. With a comfort-first approach, your Tend dentist can diagnose tooth pain, treat early infection, and perform root canal treatment, often relieving discomfort without the need for a specialist.
For complex cases, our board-certified endodontists are available to deliver the specialist care you need to smile comfortably again. Through coordinated care with your general dentist, your endodontist will ensure you receive the right level of care, whether that's same-day treatment or a long-term plan centered on improving overall oral health.
Endodontics is the diagnosis and treatment of problems originating inside the tooth, especially the dental pulp and root canals. Treatment options include:
Routine root canal therapy
Root canal therapy is an endodontic treatment used to remove infection from inside a tooth when the inner tissue becomes damaged or inflamed. By treating the problem at its source, the procedure relieves pain, stops the spread of infection, and preserves your natural tooth.
Emergency root canal treatment
An emergency root canal is performed right away, when pain or infection can’t wait. Signs you may need an emergency root canal include sudden, severe tooth pain, swelling, an abscess, or signs that an infection is spreading. Emergency care focuses on stopping pain fast, controlling infection, and stabilizing the tooth.
Root canal retreatment
When a previously treated tooth becomes reinfected or doesn’t heal as expected, a root canal retreatment is required. In this procedure, the endodontist or dentist reopens the tooth, removes the old filling material, cleans and disinfects the root canals again, and reseals the tooth. Retreatment is often the first option when a root canal needs further care.
Endodontic microsurgery
Endodontic microsurgery is recommended when retreatment isn’t possible or hasn’t resolved the problem. Instead of entering through the tooth, the endodontist accesses the infection through the surrounding gum and bone, removing infected tissue at the tip of the root using microscope-guided precision, allowing the tooth to be preserved when internal treatment alone isn’t enough.
Treatment of dental trauma
Endodontic treatment for dental trauma focuses on stabilizing and protecting an injured tooth after an accident or impact, relieving pain, preventing infection, and giving your natural tooth the best chance to heal and stay strong.
Internal tooth bleaching
Internal tooth bleaching is a specialized endodontic treatment used to gently brighten a tooth from the inside after root canal care, restoring a more natural, even appearance while preserving the tooth’s structure.
Comfortable, stress-free root canal therapy
The most common endodontic treatment, a root canal, is a dental procedure used to treat infection or damage deep inside the tooth.
Root canal care is grounded in a comfort-first, patient-centered approach combining clear communication, modern techniques, and expert clinical judgment to make treatment a calm experience. Our goal is always to address pain at its source while preserving your natural tooth and supporting long-term oral health.
Steps of a root canal include:
Removal of infection: Infected or inflamed tissue is carefully removed from inside the tooth using precise, modern tools.
Cleaning and disinfection: The root canals are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to eliminate bacteria.
Sealing and protection: The tooth is sealed to prevent future infection and restore long-term stability.

Many endodontic treatments, including routine root canal therapy, can be performed by an experienced general dentist. More complex cases, such as severe infection, retreatment, or unusual root anatomy, may be referred to an endodontist, a specialist with advanced training in treating the inner tooth.
The right provider depends on the complexity of your needs. Seeing your general dentist for an evaluation is an excellent first step. If required, your dentist can refer you to an endodontist for more advanced care.
Most root canal treatments are completed in one appointment, often within 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the tooth and level of infection. In some cases, especially when symptoms are severe, a same-day root canal may be recommended to quickly relieve pain and stabilize the tooth.
Root canal treatment provides fast, effective relief from pain caused by infection, inflammation, or damage deep within the tooth. With the use of local anesthetic to fully numb the area, the procedure itself is typically no more uncomfortable than getting a filling, allowing patients to remain comfortable throughout treatment.
In most cases, preserving the natural tooth with endodontic treatment is preferred over extraction. Keeping your natural tooth helps maintain proper bite alignment, jaw health, and overall oral function. Root canal treatment allows the tooth to remain in place while eliminating infection.
Advances in dental technology have made endodontic care more precise, comfortable, and effective. Modern tools help dentists accurately treat infection, preserve natural tooth structure, and support smoother healing with more predictable results.
Advanced imaging: Digital X-rays and 3D scans for precise diagnosis
Comfort-focused care: Modern techniques designed to reduce discomfort
Microscopic precision: Enhanced visibility for more accurate treatment
An untreated infected tooth will not heal on its own. Without endodontic treatment, infection can spread to surrounding tissue, cause increased pain and swelling, and may eventually lead to tooth loss or more serious health problems. Early dental infection treatment, such as root canal therapy, helps stop the infection and protect your long-term oral health.
An endodontic appointment generally begins with a detailed evaluation to determine the source of tooth pain or infection, often using diagnostic imaging. If endodontic treatment is recommended, your dentist or endodontist will explain the procedure, such as root canal therapy, before moving forward. Treatment focuses on removing infection from inside the tooth, relieving discomfort, and preserving the natural tooth, followed by guidance on aftercare and healing.
At Tend, we know endodontic care can feel overwhelming, so we start by creating a calm space and providing clear answers to any questions you may have. Our dentists and specialist endodontists explain your options, use modern techniques to treat infection comfortably, and follow through with care that supports your long-term oral health.
Emergency endodontic care is needed when tooth pain or infection becomes severe and can’t wait. Signs of a dental emergency include intense or sudden tooth pain, swelling in the gums or face, pain that worsens when biting or chewing, sensitivity that doesn’t subside, or signs of infection such as an abscess or fever. In these situations, emergency root canal treatment may be recommended to quickly relieve pain, control infection, and protect the natural tooth.
Endodontic treatment may be needed if you’re experiencing symptoms that point to infection or damage inside the tooth.
Common signs include persistent tooth pain or sensitivity, swelling or signs of infection around the tooth or gums, and pain when chewing or biting.
Dental trauma, such as a cracked, chipped, or injured tooth, can also allow bacteria to reach the inner tooth, even if pain isn’t immediate.
A careful evaluation by your dentist is the best way to determine whether endodontic care, such as root canal treatment, is needed to relieve discomfort and protect your natural tooth.
You should seek prompt care from a root canal dentist (endodontist) or your general dentist if you experience severe tooth pain, swelling, pain when biting, or signs of infection such as an abscess. These symptoms may indicate the need for an emergency root canal. An emergency root canal procedure helps to provide fast relief and prevent complications.
Many dental insurance plans may help cover medically necessary endodontic treatments, including root canals, though coverage can vary depending on your specific plan and procedure. We work with most major PPO insurance carriers and offer financing options to help make endodontic care more manageable.
Our team can help you understand how your insurance benefits may apply. Once your dentist recommends a treatment plan, we’ll discuss estimated costs and provide guidance on potential out-of-pocket expenses. Coverage and reimbursement decisions are made by your insurance provider and may vary based on your plan.
If Tend is out-of-network with your dental insurance plan, you can still receive treatment at our studios. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. If you have questions about your benefits, our team can help you review your coverage so you know what to expect.
When booking an appointment with an endodontist at Tend, a deposit of up to $500 is required to reserve your time.
If plans change, the refund depends on notice: more than 72 hours before your visit means the full deposit is returned, giving 24–72 hours’ notice returns half, and less than 24 hours’ notice means the deposit can’t be refunded.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Sabrina Syed! She helped me so much with my tooth bonding. She was incredibly informative! She patiently explained the differences between bonding, composite caps, veneers, and crowns in a way even a finance guy like me could understand. Her attention to detail and care made the whole process comfortable and stress free, as I came in with half my tooth cracked. The bonding she did on my tooth came out perfect, and I left feeling smarter, brighter, and my smile back. I’m so impressed that I think I’ve found my new favorite dentist. I’ll definitely be requesting her for all future visits. Thanks again for the seminar Dr. Sabrina.

Very happy with a Tend in the area. Hartley and his team are friendly and informative. Dr. Tikreeti, Mai, and Lindsey are well versed in dentistry and Lindsey is efficient working with Dr. Tikreeti. I have the biggest anxiety with dentists from terrible experiences in the past but Dr. Tikreeti is not a heavy handed dentist. She worked on my crown and root canal and with tons of numbing, we are at the finish line. Thankful that my insurance is solid and I found my dentist. The only complaint but it has nothing to do with this office personally is the guest services department that you call into could careless if they communicate properly about your appointment to the actual office you are a client for.
