Recovery after oral surgery typically involves some discomfort, which is a normal part of the healing process. If you were prescribed pain medication or antibiotics, be sure to take them exactly as directed. For the first few hours after your procedure, try not to disturb the surgical area at all.

During the first 48 hours, it’s important to avoid hot foods and drinks, spicy or acidic foods, strenuous exercise, swishing or spitting liquids, and tobacco products. Some bleeding is normal—if it occurs, bite firmly on two or three pieces of gauze for about 20 minutes, then discard the gauze.

Repeat if needed, and if bleeding continues, placing a tea bag between the surgical site and gauze can help. If bleeding persists for several hours despite these steps, contact your dental team right away. Following these guidelines can help ensure a smoother, safer recovery.

If you cancel or reschedule, the deposit refund amount is contingent on notice: cancelling more than 72 hours before your appointment will return the full deposit, 24–72 hours’ notice will return half, and less than 24 hours’ notice means the deposit cannot be refunded.
