Congrats on wrapping up your procedure! To help you heal comfortably and properly, here are a few important instructions to follow.

Post-Operative Care

Oral surgery typically causes discomfort as part of the healing process. If an over-the-counter pain reliever doesn't do it for you, just get in touch. If we prescribed you a pain medication or an antibiotic, use it as directed. For the first few hours after your procedure, don't disturb the area at all.

For the first 48 hours:

  • Avoid hot food and drinks
  • Avoid eating or drinking anything spicy or acidic
  • Avoid strenuous exercise
  • Do not swish or spit any liquids
  • Do not use tobacco products

Some bleeding is completely normal. To treat bleeding, bite firmly into two or three pieces of gauze and hold your teeth together for about 20 minutes. Afterward, discard the gauze. If the bleeding persists, repeat the process. If the bleeding still persists, place a tea bag between the surgical area and the gauze, and repeat. Still bleeding after a few hours? Let us know.
